Blockchain and publishing: towards a publisher-centred distributed ledger for the book publishing industry

There is a small but growing volume of scholarly research and technological experiments in relation to blockchain book publishing. However, date, appropriate feasible models for rights management copyright exploitation remain largely untested. Furthermore, extant has focussed on author-centred intellectual property royalty management, with limited focus publisher-centred models. Consequently, there are few practical prototypes little understanding that mutually beneficial both writers publishers. This article presents the findings two-year project, No Point Stopping, explores model publishing creates value micro-publishers. The project developed custom prototype digital ledger manage agreements, payments, tracking physical in-store online purchases. authors argue publishers, can create monetise new products from drafting editing process, thereby using would normally be an input into process rather than commercial output. Blockchain also contract revenue system disrupts current fee-for-service by paying royalties all creative professionals involved this process.
